General
Westerstrand time central are structured around a 19” module concept of the type ”Distribuerad intelligens” which means all modules are smart. By that, there is no central module upon which the other modules are dependent.
This provides the high reliability and accessibility demanded in e.g. power stations or airports.
Structure
The structure is a 19″ 3HE (height units) module system. The system is based on a 19″ enclosure for mounting on a stand or an open 19″ rack for installation in a cabinet.
A large number of modules, battery packs and power supplies are available. A passive backplane takes care of the internal connection and each module is of plug-and-play type, which means they can be connected or disconnected during operations without affecting the other modules.
Synchronization
A priority list stored in all modules specifies which module the others must synchronize their time with. If the module with the highest priority disappears, the next module on the list will take over. If all modules on the list disappear, the remaining modules will use their own built-in timebase.
Remote control
The time central can be remotely controlled and configured using the Ethernet module, which can also be used for monitoring and alarm management.
Software
Westerstrand’s NyTop software is included in the time center. The software is used to set time in a PC with a Windows operating system. The time is retrieved from an NPT server.
